Strange/Interesting Observation...

This kind of piggy-backs on the "favorite PD character" thread, but I made an odd observation about myself last night while driving home...

I'm a Superman fan; I have been since like the 3rd grade. So, you'd think I'd be drawn to some of the (many) Superman analogs that are currently in the public domain. However, most of my favorite character are NOTHING like the Man of Steel! Instead, I'm drawn to Thesson, Blue Beetle, Blue Circle, Lance Hale... All I can figure is that I equate GA comics characters with pulp characters (who I also love) and these characters feel more "pulp" to me. But that's just a guess...

So, anyone else find that they are drawn to PD characters that don't fit the types of characters they normally would read?

Maybe it's not the powers or look as much as the character's personality? Hale is bold and strong like Superman, and Dan Garret's a bit like Clark...has his own Perry/Olsen and Lois. I haven't read much about Thesson.

My favorite heroes are Captain America, Nick Fury, Punisher and Batman...more humanto charscters. My favorite PD characters are Captain Battle, Wildfire, Silver Streak Shield and Blue Beetle. Make of that what you will.
