Subject: Golden Age Comics Figurine Collection Thu Nov 22, 2012 4:39 pm
Hi All,
I recently sculpted a figurine of an offbeat character probably known to many on the forum called Stardust the Super Wizard, originally created by the infamous Fletcher Hanks. I've launched a Kickstarter campaign at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/441047786/fletcher-hanks-stardust-the-super-wizard-figurine to finance a limited production run of the figure for fans of Hanks and his bizarre creation. This video gives some background on the project:
The figure is sculpted at 1/21 scale, the same scale as the Marvel and DC figurines produced by Eaglemoss of England. The figure stands 4.45" (11.3 cm) tall including the base; it is equivalent to an Eaglemoss "Special" due to its above average size. The production figurine will be made of white metal and hand-painted; cost is $25 plus shipping for a single figurine. Backers should receive their figure by March/April 2013. The campaign ends Friday, December 14 at 12:54 am.
If the project is successful, I hope to sculpt further public domain characters from the Golden Age of Comics and create an ongoing collection celebrating these colorful mystery men. In connection with this, I've created a survey to determine the level of interest in and content of this series. If you have a moment, you may fill it out at http://bit.ly/TQHa7N; it will only take a few minutes and help me in planning out the series.
I love the Public Domain Super Heroes site; the folks that are building it are doing a great service for history and fans of vintage comics. Keep it up!

Subject: Stardust the Super Wizard Figurine Now Available! Tue Aug 13, 2013 2:21 pm
Hi All,
This post is to introduce you to Goldenagefigurines.com, a new company established to produce The Golden Age Comics Figurine Collection, a series of high quality, hand-painted polyresin figurines of public domain super hero, science fiction, and horror characters from the Golden Age of Comics. Each character is meticulously researched and carefully sculpted at 1/21 scale, making it compatible with the recent Eaglemoss collections devoted to Marvel and DC super heroes. Figurines are typically 3.5" (8.9 cm) to 4.3" (10.9 cm) tall, depending upon the size of the original character. Each individually numbered, limited edition piece is produced in very small quantities, typically between 300-500 pieces. A custom printed, full color box comes standard with each figurine, which is protected with a molded plastic tray.
Our first figurine is Fletcher Hanks's mad masterpiece, Stardust the Super Wizard:
This character is featured in two excellent books edited by Paul Karasik, I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets! and You Shall Die By Your Own Evil Creation!, both published by Fantagraphics. Stardust stands 4.3" tall and is equivalent to an Eaglemoss Special. The figurine is available in three color variants: the standard Grey Boots Edition (180 pieces produced); Yellow Boots Edition (75 pieces); and Red Boots Edition (45 pieces - sold out). Each variant has its own label, is individually numbered, and comes in a custom full color box. Stardust is priced at $27.95 with free economy shipping for US residents; he can be purchased directly from Goldenagefigurines.com, on eBay, and on Amazon. International customers are advised to order through eBay, as that is the only selling platform presently accepting orders from overseas for these figurines.
Upcoming figurines include Fletcher Hanks's Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle; The Black Terror vs. Killer Robot; and Basil Wolverton's Spacehawk (sculpt in progress). Some CG renders of the digital sculpts of Fantomah and The Black Terror are shown below:
We hope to have Fantomah up for preorder early next month with the Black Terror following in October. If you love golden age comics and high quality collectibles, please check out our site. Thank you for your support!
Best Regards,
Jared Zichek, Owner Goldenagefigurines.com

Subject: Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle Figurine Now Up for Pre-Order! Mon Sep 30, 2013 2:11 pm
Hi All,
The first superheroine in the history of comics will soon be available as a limited edition, hand painted polyresin figurine from Goldenagefigurines.com:
Created by the enigmatic Fletcher Hanks, Fantomah is a mysterious supernatural protector of the African jungles who inflicts bizarre and brutal punishments on evildoers. All of the Fantomah tales drawn by Hanks have been collected in two fantastic books edited by Paul Karasik, I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets! and You Shall Die by Your Own Evil Creation!, both published by Fantagraphics.
Fantomah is sculpted at 1/21 scale and stands 3.75" (9.5 cm) tall, with an estimated weight of 1.25 oz (35.4 g). The production run will be limited to 250 pieces and divided into 3 color variants: the white, yellow, and blue skull editions, each based on a specific color scheme from the original comics. The ratio of each variant produced will depend upon the number of pre-orders received. Each variant will have its own label, be individually numbered, and come in a full color printed box.
To reduce the chance of breakage, the figurine will be packaged separately from the base; a small drop of super glue will be required to attach it. The pre-order price in our online shop is just $14.95; the offer is good until October 31, 2013, after which the figurine will be priced at $16.95. We anticipate the figurines to arrive by December 2013/January 2014. The final product may differ somewhat from the digital illustration shown here, as it is a hand painted item.
We also have some special package deals: the Fantomah Two Variant Special for just $28.90 (a savings of $1 over ordering them separately); a Fantomah Three Variant Special for just $42.85 (a savings of $2 over ordering them separately); and a Fantomah+Stardust Special for just $36.62 (a savings of $3 over ordering them separately). All offers expire 10/31/13.
Best Regards,
Jared

Subject: Photos of 3D Printed Prototype of Fantomah Figurine Thu Oct 31, 2013 2:29 am
Hi All,
Finally received photos of the 3D printed prototype of Fletcher Hanks's Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle figurine:
This will serve as the master for the production molds; only 250 (or fewer) figurines will be made. She stands 3.75" (9.5 cm) tall, about the same size as the Eaglemoss Wonder Woman figurine. There is only one more day left to pre-order her at the low, low price of $14.95; on November 1, the price will increase to $16.95. She is available in three color variants, with the production figurines expected to arrive in December/January.

Subject: Black Terror Survey & Painted Fantomah Prototypes Thu Nov 14, 2013 2:51 pm
Hi All,
We've set up a new survey at http://www.goldenagefigurines.com/discounts to get a rough idea of the market size for the Black Terror vs. Killer Robot figurine, the prototype of which is in preparation. Participants will be emailed a special 5% off discount code when the figurine is put up for pre-order, hopefully by mid-December 2013. The price will be around $30, though the final price will be determined by the number produced, which will be influenced by the results of this survey. The more we make, the lower we can price it, so please share this survey with your friends. The minimum number we can produce is 150 and we need an indication that at least 120 can be sold before initiating production.
The Black Terror vs. Killer Robot is inspired by the cover to Exciting Comics #45 (March 1946) and will be a limited edition, hand painted polystone resin/white metal sculpture produced at 1/21 (Eaglemoss) scale and standing 3.84" (9.74 cm) tall. Some assembly will be required; more background and CG images of the figurine can be found here. No special color variants will likely be offered. The survey will be up at least till mid-December or until we reach the 120 threshold.
I also wanted to share some factory photos of the painted Fantomah prototypes:
I think they look great considering that the figurine is only 3.75" (9.5 cm) tall. The one glaring mistake is that the heads of the Yellow and White Skull variants have been switched; since they are not attached to the body at this stage, it was a simple error to correct. The paint application appears a bit glossier than that of Stardust, but that is due to the strong lighting. I approved the prototypes yesterday and production is now underway, with the production figurines hopefully arriving by late December/early January. I'm still receiving a steady amount of Fantomah pre-orders and I wanted to note that there are only 16 blue variants left unreserved; if you have your eye on that one, I would pre-order it sooner than later.
Best Regards,
Jared

Subject: Fantomah figurine now available! Mon Feb 03, 2014 11:58 am
The Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle figurines have arrived and are now in stock:
Fantomah is sculpted at 1/21 scale and stands 3.75" (9.5 cm) tall, with a weight of .6 oz (17 g). This is to the same scale as the Marvel and DC superhero figurines produced by Eaglemoss of England. The production run is limited to 150 pieces and divided into 3 color variants: the white (90 pieces), yellow (10 pieces), and blue (50 pieces) skull editions, each based on a specific color scheme from the original comics. Prices range from $17.95 to $22.95, depending on the variant, and the figurine can be purchased at Goldenagefigurines.com, eBay, and Amazon. Less than 50 remain in stock, with the yellow and blue skull editions almost sold out. Each variant has its own label, is individually numbered, and comes in a box with a unique full color printed sleeve. To reduce the chance of breakage, the figurine is packaged separately from the base; a small drop of super glue is required to attach it.
Fantomah, Mystery of Woman of the Jungle, is probably Fletcher Hanks's second most well known creation after Stardust. She is the first superheroine in comics, appearing in Jungle Comics #2 (February 1940) published by Fiction House, predating the first appearance of Wonder Woman by almost 2 years. A mysterious supernatural being who protects the jungles of Africa, Fantomah possesses near limitless magical power, including the powers of flight, levitation of other objects, and the ability to mutate her adversaries into any form imaginable. When the jungle or its inhabitants are under threat, Fantomah can instantly change from a beautiful blonde woman to a frightening skull-faced wraith capable of inflicting bizarre and brutal punishments on evildoers. All of the Fantomah tales drawn by Hanks have been collected in two fantastic books edited by Paul Karasik, I Shall Destroy All the Civilized Planets! and You Shall Die By Your Own Evil Creation!, both published by Fantagraphics.
I hope these figurines are of interest to you and thanks for your support!

Hi All,
Here's a quick update on our stocks of Fantomah and Stardust figurines:
We are down to just 9 White Skull Fantomah figurines - the other color variants have long since sold out. If you want to add one to your collection, don't delay! There will not be a second edition. For a nice write-up on the figurine check out this piece on io9.com.
Also, we have just 1 Yellow Boots Stardust left on Amazon; only 75 were produced. Grab him while you can - once he's gone, he's gone!
Thanks to everyone who has purchased our figurines and supported the venture thus far; still working on getting the Black Terror into production, will let you know ASAP when he is ready for pre-order.

Hi all! The Original Golden Age Black Terror vs. Killer Robot figurine is now available for sale - you can purchase it directly from our shop, through eBay, or on Amazon. It can also be purchased with Bitcoin, for those tech savvy folks out there. Prices vary from $28.99 to $33.99, depending on which outlet you purchase from. The figurine is sculpted at 1/21 scale and stands 3.84" (9.74 cm) tall; it's a limited edition, hand painted resin collectible inspired by the cover to Exciting Comics #45 (March 1946), drawn by the amazing Alex Schomburg. Weighing 2 oz (57 g), it's scaled to complement the existing series of Marvel and DC superheroes produced by Eaglemoss of England. The Original Golden Age Black Terror vs. Killer Robot features a faux gold foil label, individual numbering, and comes in a white box with a color printed sleeve and a protective soft black foam interior. To avoid breakage in transit, the figurines and base are packaged separately, requiring a small amount of superglue to assemble. Only 175 produced, with less than 50 remaining in stock; there will be no second edition, so if you want one, don't delay!
Best Regards,
Jared

This is VERY cool, jzichek; if I was to buy one of these figures, Black Terror would be it. Unfortunately, I just have NOWHERE to display it (have I mentioned that my wife & I have WAY too much junk?). But, if I can clear some space, it would be worth it...
I've just finished my digital sculpt of Spacehawk, Basil Wolverton's classic sci-fi hero. I plan on producing him in 1/21 (Eaglemoss) scale; the actual height will be 3.94" (10 cm) from the bottom of the base to the tip of the raygun. I'm also considering the production of a larger statue in 1/12, 1/10, or even 1/6 scale.
The sculpt is based on his first appearance in "Spacehawk and the Creeping Death from Neptune," published in Target Comics Vol. 1 No. 5, June 1940 by Novelty Press; the first page is shown below:
You can read the entire story on my Tumblr. I've selected three color variants from the story for possible production; you can vote on your favorite by taking the Spacehawk Survey; participants will receive a 5% off discount code good till 12/31/14.
Thanks for your time; hope you like the sculpture!
